FSSC 22000 Food Safety Certification
GFSI-recognized safety to world standards
In global food trade, FSSC 22000 is the "entry ticket" that major retail chains require, proof that your product safety is at the highest level. Built on ISO 22000 but adding sector-specific prerequisite program (PRP) requirements and additional criteria, this strict standard becomes a lasting, respected quality management system when combined with HRQ's methodology.
The assurance global retailers look for
With proactive audit solutions that remove legal, operational and reputational risk from the food supply chain, we give your system a clear direction.
Whole-system integration
We blend the strong management framework of ISO 22000 with FSSC's technical details, strict rules and sector-specific prerequisite program (PRP) standards.
Traceability
We set up your record-keeping for the multi-layered traceability FSSC 22000 requires and help you present evidence faster in audits.
3D culture integration
With our Thought–Emotion–Behavior (3D) methodology, food safety culture, one of FSSC's most uncompromising requirements, becomes a lasting way of working across your production line.
Zero-error audit preparation
Our team includes the first IFS HPC auditor approved in Türkiye. With an auditor's perspective that knows the codes of sector standards, we prepare your site for formal certification with mock audits that match the real thing.
End-to-end technical system setup
Our step-by-step consulting method for bringing your current setup up to GFSI-recognized global retail standards.
Gap analysis
We analyze your site's current infrastructure against ISO 22000, sector-specific PRP requirements and the latest FSSC additional requirements, and draw a clear roadmap of what is missing.
Sector-specific PRPs
For your production segment, we design what the standard requires: site layout, air and water quality management, cross-contamination barriers, cleaning and sanitation validation and equipment maintenance protocols.
HACCP and advanced risk management
We define the physical, chemical, biological and allergen risks that could threaten food safety at GFSI level of detail, and set your critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs).
Food defense and food fraud plans
We design a food defense plan against deliberate sabotage of the site and food fraud prevention measures against economically motivated adulteration and substitution, among FSSC's most critical additional requirements.
Site and document mock audit
Before the formal FSSC 22000 certification audit, we run a mock audit with first-hand lead auditor questioning methods, document cross-checks and site inspections, and bring your system to zero errors.
Frequently asked questions
Details on Food Safety System Certification processes, rules and how it differs from ISO 22000.
What are the main differences between FSSC 22000 and ISO 22000?
ISO 22000 is a general food safety management standard, but it is not recognized on its own by GFSI (the Global Food Safety Initiative), the umbrella organization of global retailers. FSSC 22000 adds sector-specific technical PRP requirements (such as ISO/TS 22002-1) and strict FSSC additional requirements on food defense, food fraud and allergen management to ISO 22000, and is fully recognized by GFSI.
Who needs FSSC 22000?
Any producer in the food chain (processing, packing, packaging manufacture, logistics) that wants to supply international retail chains such as Metro, Walmart and Carrefour, manufactures for global brands or exports food or packaging.
Do FSSC 22000 audits include unannounced audits?
Yes. Under FSSC 22000 rules, at least one of the surveillance audits in the 3-year certification cycle must be completely unannounced. Our consulting builds a food safety culture that keeps your site ready for an unannounced audit at any time, not just for planned ones.
Why do food defense and food fraud matter?
Food defense aims to prevent deliberate contamination from outside for ideological, bioterrorist or sabotage purposes. Food fraud aims to reduce the risk of economically motivated adulteration or substitution of raw materials, such as adulterated oil or fraudulent meat. In FSSC audits, the absence of a written risk analysis and plan in either area is a major nonconformity.
